Benefits of the Daikin Onecta app

Benefits of the Daikin Onecta app

One of the great advantages of the smart home era is that controlling heating, cooling and air conditioning no longer necessarily means using thermostats or remote controls on the wall - a mobile app is enough. A Daikin Onecta Application to control your air conditioning and heat pump from anywhere, optimising the operation of these systems.

Why choose a smart air conditioner or heat pump?

In this post, we will show you why you should choose a smart air conditioner or heat pump, the benefits of the Daikin Onecta app, what features are available, and how you can install it step by step.

The benefits of a smart knife - What the Daikin Onecta app can do

1. Energy efficiency and cost savings

Smart controls allow you to ensure that the connected device only works when you really need it. For example, you can set temperature scheduling, automatic switch-off when you are away from home, or even temperature control by time of day.

This can help avoid unnecessary consumption. The Daikin Onecta app also provides graphs and energy consumption data, so you can monitor where further operational optimisation may be needed, increasing efficiency and making your system more economical, whether it's a heat pump or air conditioner.

2. Comfort and flexibility

You don't need to be in the room to control the temperature: you can control the device from your mobile phone from anywhere (if you have an internet connection). For example, when you get home from work, you can turn on the heating or cooling in advance to ensure you're greeted with the ideal temperature. The app allows you to manage multiple rooms, even across multiple properties.

3. Integration with smart home systems (Alexa, Google Assistant)

The Onecta app supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice control. So you can even control your system with voice commands („Alexa, set the daytime temperature to 22 degrees”).

4. Road to the future

It is now a basic requirement for air conditioning and heat pump manufacturers that the devices are “smart” and can be integrated with each other on the home network. The Onecta app, for example, not only monitors air conditioners, but other products in the Daikin portfolio: It can handle Altherma heat pumps, VRV systems and even gas boilers.

Why is the Daikin Onecta app good?

The Onecta app is not just a simple controller, not just another “gadget”, but really helps to optimise the system on a data basis:

Overview and graphs

In the app, you can track your energy consumption in detail, on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Graphs and iconic illustrations help you see when there are higher loads and where you could be more efficient.

Managing multiple devices and locations

The app allows you to manage up to 5 different locations and up to 20 units (e.g. air conditioners, heat pumps) from one account. Multiple users can be added with different rights to manage a single location, so that family members or tenants can use the device safely, easily and, if required, with supervision.

Scheduling, automatic operation

You can set up 6 separate times a day for each day of the week, where the system gets new settings: switch on and off, control the operating mode, temperature, fan speed. You can also schedule the domestic hot water heating.

Voice control

Previously mentioned: integration with Alexa / Google Assistant. This allows important functions (on/off, temperature setting, mode selection) to be controlled by voice.

Easy installation and device detection

The app guides you through the process, from device installation to technical setup, in a way that is easy to understand for the average user.

Security and privacy

The device connects to the cloud via the wifi network, the app also connects to the cloud, so Onecta can only be used if both the Daikin device and the app have an active internet connection. Then the data is synchronised in real time and only authenticated users can access it.

How to install the Onecta application and add a device?

The wireless LAN adapter can only connect to a 2.4 GHz wifi network, so make sure your wifi network is available on this frequency.

Step by step:

  1. Download and install
The app is available at Apple App Store and the Google Play Store is.
Install it on your mobile and then launch the app.
  2. Registration / login
If you already have a Daikin Online Controller app or have registered a Daikin ID for the Stand By Me interface before, you can log in with your existing username. If you are a new user, create a Daikin ID account.
  3. Add a device (Onboarding)
In the application, select „Add device” or „Add unit”.
Then select the equipment you want to add (wall mounted unit (air conditioner), Daikin Altherma heat pump, etc.) and the type (e.g. Wall mounted unit -> Comfora (FTXP))
If you haven't already done so, the app will guide you through the steps on how to put your device into pairing mode so you can connect to it
The system automatically detects devices in pairing mode („new units in your network”).
If it does not appear automatically, select the „Detect a wireless device” option.
  4. Wi-Fi configuration (SSID + password or WPS)
If you use WPS, it is also one of the supported options. Then you need to press the WPS button on the router when the app prompts you to do so, and the unit will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.
For SSID connection, you first need to enter the SSID + password (KEY, 13-digit number), then select the home Wi-Fi network and enter the password after connecting to the adapter.
  5. Testing and operational verification
Once the configuration is successful, the device will be online and you will have access to its main functions in the app: temperature setting, mode selection, timing, power consumption. The power consumption is recorded by the adapter, so you can record the data after the first successful pairing, it is not possible to read out previous consumption data.

Tips on how to get the most out of the Onecta app

  • Use the schedule consciously: for example, lower temperatures in the morning, lower during the day, warmer again in the evening - but don't set big swings.
  • Switch on the „power saving” or „energy mode” options, if available, and look at the energy consumption graphs, which are the best way to identify the periods when energy consumption can be optimised.
  • Share your access with others- the application allows multiple users to manage the devices.
  • Voice control to react quickly: when you enter your home, you can say „Alexa, set the heating to 22°C” - no phone calls needed.
  • Maintenance should not be missed: Smart system or not, the annual maintenance (cleaning filters and other main elements) is essential for optimal operation.
  • Gradual fine-tuning: monitor your own comfort and find a temperature where you feel comfortable. The less heating and cooling needed to make a space comfortable, the lower the energy consumption will be. The radiant temperature of the warming/cooling walls, in addition to continuous use, will also help to reduce the need to heat/cool the air to a comfortable temperature.

Smart-controlled air conditioners and heat pumps are not just comfort extras - they offer real energy savings and comfort. A Daikin Onecta application allows you to monitor your devices from anywhere, schedule their operation, continuously check consumption.

Installation is relatively simple, with built-in guides and help processes to get you up and running in minutes. If you use it wisely, you can make your home air conditioning and heat pump system not only comfortable, but also economical.
